Chrismas Season, Christmas Parties

Christmas is fast approaching and it’s the time of gift giving again. Last Monday, me and my boss delivered most of the gifts that our company has prepared to our customers in the countryside which are manufacturing companies. First stop is Isuzu autoparts, where we delivered 3 wine bottles and a calendar. The Japanese guy is out of the office so we just handed the gifts to their purchasing officer. Next stop is a new client that we are partnering to do some new business with. We just dropped some catalogues and a calendar. Our next stop should be Toyota but our contact person is in a meeting and cannot meet us before lunch so we proceeded to Showa Aluminum in Cavite. They are located near the place where I took my OJT. After dropping the package, we went to lunch at Carancho grill. The place still serves excellent food. After luch, we went back to Toyota and drop off the package. Tiring day it is!

The other day (which is a Sunday) I went to a Christmas/Appreciation Party of H-Star Enterprises which is one of our clients. The venue was in Manila Hotel and would start at around 11 am which was stated in the ticket. My boss and “madam” could not attend so I have to attend. I also ask Joy who to ask to go with me. I was thinking of asking Mon and decided to ask him when I got home but after a few minutes of texting Joy she already asked him and he said that to just let Joy go. In the end it was Joy’s youngest brother who joined the party because their family is invited to 3 different parties and he was home alone so their father decided that Joy accompany her grandmother and her brother joins us. I really should have trusted my instincts on Sunday parties and went there late, I arrived there 15 mins. after 11 and waited till quarter to 12 before Joy’s family arrived and the party started already around 1230. I was so hungry that I made 2 rounds at the buffet table. The party was so so. I met a new potential client for our new business there because of the exhibit H-Star made that also featured our product. I also accepted a token of appreciation on behalf of my boss for the donation that the company has made for a Baptist Church. There were dancers who are scantily clad and singers that entertained us. The dancers are not that good. One singer was good (a professional) while the other is somehow asked by her parents to perform there. They also raffled off around 50 DVD players but we didn’t won even one.

Last night 3 of us (me, my boss and madam) went to the Philippine Iron and Steel Institute (PISI) Christmas party to get to know more potential clients. The food is good but I did not get any seconds because the waiter already took my plate away. T_T
There was also a presenter on electricity being sold based on the supply and demand law. By next year it will already be implemented in Luzon so if we want to save money on electricity, use only at night or on off peak hours.

Madam got an admirer there at the party of PISI. The guy only talked with her and when he found out who my boss was he chatted away with him. The guy didn’t even shook hands with me and exchanged cards, he just talked with madam. On our way home, he called her cellphone but she just hanged up. Bad karma for her. >:)

These parties made me tired upto today. I’m wishing that I could go home early today. I’m really tired and it was first time for me to fall asleep during my lunch break.

Advises

Last saturday evening, I met up with Joy and Mon to discuss the problems at work. Thanks to their advise, I understood better on how I should deal with the problems at work.

Balance is always the key!

You Are Balanced - Realist - Empowered

You feel your life is controlled both externally and internally.
You have a good sense of what you can control and what you should let go.
Depending on the situation, you sometimes try to exert more control.
Other times, you accept things for what they are and go with the flow.

You are a realist when it comes to luck.
You don't attribute everything to luck, but you do know some things are random.
You don't beat yourself up when bad things happen to you...
But you do your best to try to make your own luck.

You have a good deal of power, but you also know the pecking order.
You realize that working the system does get you further.
You know who to defer to and who to control.
When it comes to the game of life, you play things flawlessly.

My job again....

Madam
I really hate her now. Even though I already talked with my boss about the task that he gave me, she still insist that I do something. She isn’t my boss for all I care! Making me do things like she is the boss. She already reduced my initial salary to just a barely minimum then made my Christmas gift check to only 1,500 and she bosses me around. I need to just let it be because right now I’m not yet a regular employee. I really hate her.

Madam is the type of person who does not want others to go over her. Typical crab mentality from a Filipino. I already stated in the other post on how she made my boss reduce the increase of my other office mate because Madam’s increase in percentage will be smaller than the that of the other officemate.

There’s also an incident where in she tried to reign in on my expertise which is tinkering with computers. My boss is asking me to print a copy of a drawing because it is too large. I edited the picture but somehow I forgot to change the print setting to landscape. Since my boss’ computer is in Japanese, it is hard to use it and I need to rely on my memory to do the said task. She tried to see the problem but I think she can not and I just told them that I just forgot to set the print setting to landscape. After that, the print out is ok and my boss thank me.

Hate the job….
Somehow I hate this job already. I really can not do the calling out new clients stuff. I do not know what my boss really thinks of what I talked to him about not being able to do the said tasks. I have been responsible and a good boy while I’m at work. I was only late once and was always 30 minutes early in coming to the office. I did everything what they told me and the only thing that I can’t do is the calling of the new clients.

I also hate the way Madam pushes me everyday to do the said task. If she is really good then why doesn’t she do it herself. I know that the steel business nowadays is bad, so it is really hard to come up with new clients right now. The only thing that I see her selling is the racking system that we got from Korea. It is so much easier to sell those products because what’s to know about it? The products are just racks that you put something in so that your things won’t be a mess.

I hope that my boss does not compare me with Madam because I’m in a different state than she is. She has already worked here for more than a year and she already has several other jobs. While I on the other hand is just about to be on my third month with this company and it is only my first formal job.

I’m really planning to resign from this job if I still have the same issues next year. I’m just waiting to become a regular so that It won’t look bad at my resume that I did not become a regular. My personality does not really jive with my work. I have to give my apologies to Joy and her father for letting them down. I just have to find work on my own. I really did enjoy this job at the beginning but as I learned of the things that go through here, it’s really not that enjoyable.

Can't think of a title =)

About my work again….
After ranting about how I still can not find new clients, “Madam” asks me if I have already called up the list that my boss wants me to call up. I don’t know if she just wants to boss me around or my boss really is asking her to ask me about that. Well, I just couldn’t take it much longer, the nagging and all that jazz so today I talked to my boss about it. I tried calling one but I do not know what our products are for and it is very bad for a salesman to not know what he is selling. He understood, thank God! Right now I just have to deal with Madam to stay with this job longer.

My boss is also planning to send me to Korea to train for this new business. Madam will handle this business and I will be her backup. I do not know if I will be happy or will be irritated of the situation. I would love to go to Korea but I have to go with Madam. Somehow I think I would prefer that she just go there alone as to get a break from her.

3 different bosses from 3 different jobs
I just have to compare the 3 bosses that I already have. The first one was when I was still taking my OJT at Intel in Cavite. The second one is the mainlander Chinese that has a business of selling paper bags, sako bags, etc. from China. The third one is my current boss at the Japanese trading firm.

The first one does not talk too much. He just instructs us mostly during meetings which is the normal thing at Intel. He does not talk much but when something needs to be done, he makes it done. He is Filipino by the way.

The second one is the opposite of the first one. He is all talk and late action. He talks of doing this and that but after 2 months of talking this and that and still there’s no action. This one always lectures me on everything. He would spend around 1 – 2 hours lecturing me on different stuff.

The third one is the average of the first two. He also talks but when there are some actions needed to be done he acts.

I still prefer my first boss. I like the way he works and handles things. Both the second and the third boss are moody. They change moods very often. Also, the second one has a very short temper and when he explodes he EXPLODES. The third one has a much longer temper than the second one. It is also bad when he gets mad.

3 bosses with 3 different nationality and personalities but they all have one thing in common. They are all “malibog” or in English horny. There are so many things that I have heard about my second and third boss but no first hand experience. I have already posted here previously my experience with my first boss.

Rants on my work and Smart WiFi

Rants about my work
Somehow I’m not enjoying my work anymore. Miss goody-two-shoes lessen my Christmas grocery value to only 1,500. All of them got 2,500 for their Christmas grocery. She said that I am just with the company for only 4 months so that’s why. She said that last year she was already 6 months with the company so she got the same amount. She really wants to put down everyone here. There’s also the incident with the salary increase of the admin. The admin and my boss already agreed on the increase and upon learning that the percentage increase of the admin is greater than “The” girl she protested with the boss and guess what, the admin got a reduced increase in her salary.

There’s also my problem with finding new clients. My boss and “The” girl has been telling me to call up new clients and setup a meeting with them. My boss wants me to find clients dealing with steel while the other one wants me to find new clients that has requirements for racking system which the new business of our company. It’s very hard for me to do the tasks. For crying out loud, I’m just with the company for 2 months, this is my first job, and foremost is I am an ENGINEERING graduate and not a business graduate and they expect me to do these tasks! I am still getting the hang of things here in the office and their expectation is already very high. Hay, hay….. One factor maybe that cause me to feel this way because of my personality being an introvert. I think you can not change one’s personality with just 2 months. It will take years and maybe a decade for me to change.

If this feeling of depression against my work will not change, I may resign from this job. There are also salary issues and business trips abroad that I have to deal with.

Rant about Smart WiFi
About a month ago I learned about Meridian and Smart Wifi offering quality broadband service with an affordable price. I went to their website and applied online. It was almost 2 weeks since I applied and still no reply from them so I ask at a wireless center near our house about this new service they are offering. They told me that it is not possible to have their service because we live in a building. After a week, smart contacted me asking me for my cell no. because I mistyped my cell no. and was missing a number. I gave them a number and after sometime, smart called and they will be sending me the equipments for the service.

Problem started when the men who will install the equipment said that they need to install it at our rooftop. The rooftop is locked so they need to comeback another day. They committed after 4 days that they will install, fortunately they came and installed. We also requested the key of our rooftop from the owner for them to install the equipment. They installed the equipment and I tested the connection and it seemed fine. When the men already left, somehow the connection was not good. The connection was intermittent meaning sometimes the connection stops for a second or two. Also, the connection was slow for most of the day. It was faster using dialup connection.

I complained and complained to the technical support and the customer rep. Their customer service takes forever to answer my calls. Fortunately for them, last week the connection became fast and the connection is also smooth now. I’ll just wait and see if there will still be problems.

Golf and Business, Transcendant Class

I'm really wondering how my boss make deals while playing golf with clients. There are already so many instances where he would take the afternoon off to play golf with clients and somehow the deal would be made. hehe. Of course he doesn't tell us that he will take the afternoon off to play golf. It's bad for his image. I better start to learn how to play golf or I won't make any deals in the future.

Rebirth patch has already been implemented in pRO. I already rebirthed my blacksmith and now it is a level 78 whitesmith. It was really hard to level even though there was already a x5 multiplier for the exp rate. I guess I have to slowly level it to 99 again.

Almost two months...

I can't believe that I am now almost two months on my current job. I enjoy the job but sometimes like any other businesses you have to wait and I'm the kind that can't wait. I always needs to do something. If I don't do something I would go mad. ROFL!

My boss right now has better temperament than the previous one but this one has also a bad temper. He is also easily influenced by my officemate/sales assitant. I have only 2 officemates here in the office. One takes care of the admin/accounting works and the other one is the sales assistang / assitant to the GM. My boss is a fun guy who loves to shower his employees with food. I get to eat free food atleast four times already. He also bought a birthday cake for me and the sales assistant (we both have birthdays on the same month).

The admin/accounting officemate is the more talkative one. She talks about many things mostly of her personal life (family issues, marriage issues) and also the many things that happend in our office. I am more complasant with this one than the other.

The sales assitant/assistant to the gm one is a more bossy type. She always wants to be on top of everybody here except of course my boss. She wants to trim expenses that she does not need and does not cut cost on her wants. In short, she gets what she wants from our boss. I've heard many not so good stories about this one and to tell you the truth I myself do not like her that much. We have a so so relationship in the office so I won't get into trouble with my boss.

Stupid Machines....

Last thursday our washing machine broke down. It has already happend for the nth time and it is a real bother when it breaks down because we have to wait for the company technician to come over to fix it. Recently, it has been breaking down for about 2 weeks interval but I learned how to remedy the situation (thanks to the technician and my engineering degree) . Rats have eaten up some of the wires near the control panel. It's easy to patch it up with electric tape and the washing machine is up and ready to wash again. I can't remedy this last down time so we have to call the company again to service our machine. The recent down time according to the technician is caused by 2 pcs IC. They charged us almost Php 1k for it. Stupid ICs. The bulk of the fee went to the service charge for finding out what the problem is and putting the 2 ICs in the control panel. These companies sure know how to make money.

The day before our washing machine broke down our PC also broke down. The damn thing wouldn't boot. We couldn't figure out what the problem is so last friday my brother took the the CPU to one of my favorite computer store PC Express and have it examined. They made it to work and couldn't find what went wrong. We, me and my brothers, decided that we purchase new parts for it so that it wouldn't be a hassle to us if it breaks down again. They are already doing their thesis and it is important that our PC is in tip top shape or its bye bye for graduation.

PS: Guys click on the ad banner and help me earn some money. =)

Salesman

I am now a salesman. haha. Right now I am working for Okaya & Co., LTD as a salesman. The company deals with trading. The deal with mostly steel trading but they also do business with other metals and machineries. The pay is low but I'm enjoying myself. Php 8,000 taxable income + Php 1,320 meal allowance + Php 1,320 transpo allownce for a total of Php 10,640. They also gave me a company phone with Globe plan 2500.

Right now I file the different documents of the current sales, update on the payments of customers, and visit clients. The fun part is the visiting of clients. I get to go to different plants in Cavite and Laguna.

They gave me a welcoming meal on my first week at Congo Grill. I was very full after that. I also get free lunch whenever my boss and I visit clients and its lunch time.

I get to practice what I have learned from the university when clients have problems with our products like the one with the drawing of wire rod problem. My collegue, boss and I found the solution to their problem and I made a report stating what their problem really is which is thier machine.

What's up?

Updating my blog after a long time, so what's up with me for the past months?

**********************************************************

After being nagged by my father to go to an interview from an want ad he found in the chinese newspaper, I found a job. Basically what I applied for in this job is to handle computers. The company engages in selling lenses and "sako" bags imported from China. They currently have 2 stores, 1 in divisoria and 1 in quiapo both in Manila. Summarizing my experience here, the computer part of my job is just to encode inventory datas from my boss' store. Working for 6 days in week for 10 hours a day. First few weeks are like hell. Cleaning the stockroom to convert it from a warehouse to an office with 3 PCs. Became a translator for everyone that he cannot communicate with. Following weeks are more than hell. Everyday I have to walk a few kilometers back and forth from the office to the store in divisoria and back again opening and closing the store. Counting stocks almost everyday to keep track of the inventory. The thing that made me fed up was when we had an order for customize bags, the customer change their mind and I have to take responsibility for it. My boss thought that the pattern has already been made and it costs alot. His voice blaring in my ear for almost half the day. The next day after taking a lecture and his blaring voice I got scolded again for the letter writting me and my collegue made for him for the Philippine embassy. The timing was right for me to leave this job with an AWOL, because during this time its almost the 15th of the month and I just needed to get my salary. I really hated that job.

Currently, I am now working in a japanese trading firm. 80% of my experience is good and the rest is bad. hehe. I am thanking Joy for helping me get this job.

**********************************************************

During my free time I am still engaging in pRO. My character with the job of a blacksmith is already level 99. Yehey! After 1 year and a few weeks I finally made my first level 99 character in pRO.
