Korea and Back

It has been months since I last posted on my blog. Been busy for a while. We had a new business with First Sumiden Circuits Inc. located in LISP 1 in Cabuyao, Laguna. We sold around 165 production tables there and also accompanying stainless steel sheets as the table top. Madam is the one who was contacted by this client so she made the sale. Unfortunately for me, I am the one who did most of the dirty job. We started assembly of the tables (the driver, Madam, me and my boss) and hired a few laborers to finish most of the jobs. I was the one who supervised the laborers while she was in the office sitting pretty. The driver and I were the ones who installed the big stainless steel sheet while she installed the small ones. The saddest part for me is that I was the only one who went there to finish the remaining tables that were not yet installed with SS sheet and also was the one who pulled out our materials.

A week after holy week, I went to Korea with Madam and Joy’s brother David. We were sent there to learn more about assembly of the pipe racks. I admit that I was a bit lazy during the last day of the training but it was because the job was boring already. Most of the training in the factory was done by me and David but Madam just stayed in the office during the 2nd and 3rd day of our training there. The first day she joined in the assembly work but was in the office during the later part of the day. She said that she was attending to her client’s needs. What? Weren’t we sent to Korea to train on how to assemble the pipe racks not to hang around the office and do some typing job? I think that it is ok for her to do those things but not for 1 whole day.

Climate there is still very cold even though it was already spring there specially when the wind blows. The food is spicy but I can take the spicyness of the food. There are not much place there where you can buy cheap items.

Currently, Madam made me call out new clients which I do not want to do but was forced to. I just do not want to do those things because she wanted me to do it. Hehe. I just emailed our company profile and proposal for pipe rack to the companies who are listed in the PEZA site and got only 1 feedback. If we sell to this company it won’t be that much of a hassle because they buy in parts. We do not need to even cut the pipes for them.

Just today Hanzel and I somewhat talked about putting a franchise of Waffle Wrapps in 168 mall which just 1 minute walking from our house. Franchising fee is about Php 170k to 150k. Maybe if this pushes through I just quit my job and concentrate on this one. But I think it is much better if I still have a job and have this business at the same time. But I think it is a good excuse to quit my current job.

Brown!

Brown
You're brown, a credible, stable color that's reminiscent of fine wood, rich leather, and wistful melancholy. Most likely, you're a logical, practical person ruled more by your head than your heart. With your inquisitive mind and insatiable curiosity, you're probably a great problem solver. And you always gather all of the facts before coming to a timely, informed decision. Easily intrigued, you're constantly finding new ways to challenge your mind, whether it's by reading the newspaper, playing a trivia game, or composing a piece of music. Brown is an impartial, neutral color, which means you tend to see the difference between fact and opinion easily and are open to many points of view. Trustworthy and steady, you really are a brown at heart.

Rants

I’m somehow really not up to my work these past few days. One of the obvious reasons is because I really can’t deal with “Madam”. I just try to be obedient to her because after all I am just a noob here since the start of the year. Yet still she tries to put me down. I really do not know what to do with her. Since she has a firm grip on my boss, my boss seems to see my mistakes more often. These past few days, I have been making mistakes that somehow were Madam’s fault and I took all of the blame. I just forget these things because for me these mistakes are lessons learned. Today, I had a chat with the other office mate and she told me that my boss is somehow not happy with me. I’m almost about to become a regular employee of this company and the only things that my boss wants me to improve on is making connections with clients because he said I’m naïve about that point which I know. Madam somehow told my boss that I still have to prove that I am worthy to become a regular in this company. I still do not know what I should prove to become a regular here. They should have expected less from me because I’m just a new grad and no professional work yet since I graduated. The last job I had before this can’t be called a professional job because that company didn’t even enroll me to the SSS and my current company does not know about that previous job. I’m really seriously thinking of quitting this job and find a better paying job that also has equal treatments to it’s employees. My boss is still thinking of letting me go to Korea for some training so maybe I may quit this job after going there.

Last week, I checked my email and there was an email from our alumni Yahoo Groups telling everyone that there’s an opening for a job that deals with troubleshooting PCs and networking. I was aghast when I saw it, that was my dream job and yet I can’t apply because I currently have a job. The job pays more and even will have an increase after only 3 months. I have average knowledge for the troubleshooting part and beginner’s knowledge in the networking part but I am a quick learner especially to those kinds of topics. Another opportunity gone to waste.

Chrismas Season, Christmas Parties

Christmas is fast approaching and it’s the time of gift giving again. Last Monday, me and my boss delivered most of the gifts that our company has prepared to our customers in the countryside which are manufacturing companies. First stop is Isuzu autoparts, where we delivered 3 wine bottles and a calendar. The Japanese guy is out of the office so we just handed the gifts to their purchasing officer. Next stop is a new client that we are partnering to do some new business with. We just dropped some catalogues and a calendar. Our next stop should be Toyota but our contact person is in a meeting and cannot meet us before lunch so we proceeded to Showa Aluminum in Cavite. They are located near the place where I took my OJT. After dropping the package, we went to lunch at Carancho grill. The place still serves excellent food. After luch, we went back to Toyota and drop off the package. Tiring day it is!

The other day (which is a Sunday) I went to a Christmas/Appreciation Party of H-Star Enterprises which is one of our clients. The venue was in Manila Hotel and would start at around 11 am which was stated in the ticket. My boss and “madam” could not attend so I have to attend. I also ask Joy who to ask to go with me. I was thinking of asking Mon and decided to ask him when I got home but after a few minutes of texting Joy she already asked him and he said that to just let Joy go. In the end it was Joy’s youngest brother who joined the party because their family is invited to 3 different parties and he was home alone so their father decided that Joy accompany her grandmother and her brother joins us. I really should have trusted my instincts on Sunday parties and went there late, I arrived there 15 mins. after 11 and waited till quarter to 12 before Joy’s family arrived and the party started already around 1230. I was so hungry that I made 2 rounds at the buffet table. The party was so so. I met a new potential client for our new business there because of the exhibit H-Star made that also featured our product. I also accepted a token of appreciation on behalf of my boss for the donation that the company has made for a Baptist Church. There were dancers who are scantily clad and singers that entertained us. The dancers are not that good. One singer was good (a professional) while the other is somehow asked by her parents to perform there. They also raffled off around 50 DVD players but we didn’t won even one.

Last night 3 of us (me, my boss and madam) went to the Philippine Iron and Steel Institute (PISI) Christmas party to get to know more potential clients. The food is good but I did not get any seconds because the waiter already took my plate away. T_T
There was also a presenter on electricity being sold based on the supply and demand law. By next year it will already be implemented in Luzon so if we want to save money on electricity, use only at night or on off peak hours.

Madam got an admirer there at the party of PISI. The guy only talked with her and when he found out who my boss was he chatted away with him. The guy didn’t even shook hands with me and exchanged cards, he just talked with madam. On our way home, he called her cellphone but she just hanged up. Bad karma for her. >:)

These parties made me tired upto today. I’m wishing that I could go home early today. I’m really tired and it was first time for me to fall asleep during my lunch break.

Advises

Last saturday evening, I met up with Joy and Mon to discuss the problems at work. Thanks to their advise, I understood better on how I should deal with the problems at work.
